The Totnes
Natural Health Centre opened in 1978, and was the first centre of its kind
in the U.K. Its aim is to offer treatment and information about natural
therapies and all aspects of health and wholeness. Our work is directed
towards enabling people to mobilise their own capacity for self-healing, and
to take on responsibility for their health. We are a registered charity
number - 279033.
The centre is unique in that we offer treatments on a donation basis. All receptionists and therapists who work at the centre give their time free each week to provide the local community a chance to experience complimentary therapies by donation.
Most therapies cost around £40 privately but we invite a donation, according to your means, between £14- £40. For those on a yearly income lower than £10,000 we accept a donation from £10 upwards.
In addition to this, every week we offer a limited number of treatments for a suggested donation of £7 upwards. Please phone reception for treatments which are currently available.
Donation session conditions:
The Centre is a charity which runs only on your donations for therapy - every Receptionist and Therapist gives their time for free to provide complementary therapy to our community at a reduced cost.
In the interest of fairness, there is a maximum of two donation sessions within a six month period, booked one at a time.
All sessions are subject to the full donation charge if cancelled for any reason within 24 hours: sessions for Monday need to be cancelled by midday on Friday to give us time to rebook.
Please note that for Massage sessions in which Oils are used, there is an additional charge of £1.50 which goes to the Therapist to cover their oil costs. Similarly, additional charges are made for herbs and Homeopathic remedies prescribed.
Everyone working at the centre abides by a Code of Ethics, assuring confidentiality and offering a supportive and non-judgemental approach to healing. We listen, and you can take your time. We are here for you as an individual.
All our therapists are fully qualified members of their appropriate professional bodies, and carry full indemnity insurance. You can arrange private appointments by asking for details at reception. We employ a part-time co-ordinator, and are grateful to all the people who act as volunteer receptionists and therapists at the Centre; new volunteers are always welcome.
In 1988 we had the good fortune to acquire spacious premises in a listed Georgian building by the River Dart. A variety of pleasant rooms (with kitchen facilities and disabled access) can be hired at reasonable rates for classes, meetings and workshops.

You can book
private sessions at other times. Fees vary and must be arranged with
individual practitioners. All our therapists are qualified members of their
appropriate professional bodies, and carry full indemnity insurance.
